The Asus Eee Pad, formerly running a version of Windows CE 7 has now left the Microsoft brand to run a 2.2 ‘Froyo’ version of Android. There is still very limited information on the Tablet as it has a 2011 expected release date.

Many modern contract mobile phones are running Android, devices from HTC, and some of the new Samsung and LG devices are also running the latest version of Android. The only ones that aren’t are the older version of the HTC Hero and of course the iPhone 3GS and the iPhone 4, in fact all of the Apple branded products are running their own iOS which is unlike Android.

There are some good deals on the market for devices running Android and there are also some very good iPhone deals. The rumour that is doing the rounds at the minute is that there will be a ten inch model released in 2011 at some point to be followed by a bigger twelve inch version.

One of the major factors that people think is why Asus decided to drop the Windows CE 7 OS is that Android has a rather expansive app store, granted not on a par with the Apple app store but the Google connection would have made it more appealing, but one question people are asking is, why didn’t Asus wait and consider using the Google Chrome OS which is scheduled to drop in 2011?
